## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THIS AIRCRAFT WAS ENGAGED IN LOGGING OPERATIONS, BY ERICKSON AIR CRANE, INC., E8KL, NEAR APPLEGATE LAKE IN SOUTHWEST OREGON. THE PIC MADE A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING WHEN HE SENSED SOMETHING WAS NOT QUITE RIGHT WITH THE AIRCRAFT. A POST FLIGHT INSPECTION BY THE ASSISTANT CREW CHIEF DISCOVERED THAT THE LOWER ATTACHMENT PIN FOR A PRIMARY CONTROL SERVO WAS MISSING. FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND THAT A NUT HAD BACKED OFF THE SERVO RETAINING PLATE WHICH ALLOWED THE PIN TO EXIT THE ATTACHMENT POINT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
