## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON FEBRUARY 21, 2002, A PA-28-161 AIRCRAFT REGISTRATION NUMBER N274ND WAS TAXIING TO THE RAMP AFTER THE PILOTS FIRST SOLO FLIGHT. WHILE TAXIING ON THE RAMP YELLOW LINE, THE RIGHT WING OF THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A MAINTENANCE VEHICLE PARKED ON THE RAMP. THE OUTBOARD 3 FEET OF THE WING LEADING EDGE WAS DAMAGED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT AND VMC PREVAILED. NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI02LA086](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI02LA086), Feb 21, 2002: Piper PA-28-161 (N274ND), Grand Forks, ND, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot not maintaining clearance from a parked van while taxiing to the parking area. The van was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
