## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) APPROXIMATELY 4 MINUTES AFTER PERFORMING MANEUVERS, IN LEVEL FLIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 3500 FT, THE PILOT HEARD A LOUD BANG AND SAW DEBRIS COMING FROM THE NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE. THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT AT ST. CHARLES, MO (3SQ) WITHOUT INCIDENT. AN INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED THAT ONE OF THE PROPELLER DEICE BOOTS HAD BEEN THROWN FROM THE PROP AND WENT THRU THE ICE PLATE ON THE SIDE OF THE AIRPLANE. THE PROPELLER WAS SENT TO AIRCRAFT PROPELLER SERVICE, INC. IN WHEELING IL. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PAINT USED ON THAT ONE BLADE DID NOT ADHERE TO THE METAL BLADE. THE OTHER BLADES HAD GOOD ADHESION. ALL BLADES AND THE PROPELLER WERE OVERHAULED APPROXIMATELY 400 HOURS AND 6 MONTHS PRIOR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
