## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING THE LANDING PHASE OF FLIGHT (JUST AFTER TOUCHDOWN), THE RIGHT OUTER WING HIT A CYCLIST RIDING ON RUNWAY 23L. THE CYCLIST WAS POSITIONED WITH HIS BACK TO THE LANDING AIRCRAFT. A FACTOR WAS THE LATE AFTERNOON LOW SUN ANGLE DIRECTED INTO THE PILOT'S EYES. THE WING LEADING EDGE CONTACTED THE CYCLIST IN THE LOWER BACK, CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX02LA098](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX02LA098), Mar 1, 2002: Schweizer SGS 2-32 (N2466W), Peoria, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: Failure of the cyclist to coordinate and communicate that he was on the active runway. A contributing factor was the sun glare encountered by the pilot on final approach.

## Other reports on N2466W (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
