## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MARCH 4, 2002, APPROXIMATELY 1540 EDT, A SENECA PA-34-200 REGISTERED TO PACKAGE EXPRESS, A FAR 135 OPERATOR, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS PILOTED BY GARY STROBEL. THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN FLIGHT APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES FROM SANFORD-LEE COUNTY BRICK FIELD (W77) AT 5500 FEET WHEN THE LEFT ENGINE EXPLODED SENDING THE FRONT RIGHT CYLINDER THROUGH THE COWLING. THE PILOT INDICATED HE WENT THROUGH THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN/PROP FEATHERING PROCEDURES AND MADE A FORCED LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
