## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT REPORTED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED ON THE RIGHT ENGINE, AND HE PERFORMED A PRECAUTIONARY ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY TO THE ONTARIO INT'L AIRPORT, ONTARIO CA. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT, THE ENGINE WAS EXAMINED BY AN AIRCRAFT MECHANIC AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE DRIVE COUPLING HAD SHEARED WHICH CAUSED CONTAMINATION OF THE OIL SYSTEM. THE MECHANIC FLUSHED THE ENGINE AND CHANGED THE ALTERNATOR. THE PILOT FLEW THE AIRCRAFT TO LONG BEACH, CA FOR ADDITIONAL INSPECTION AND/OR MAINTENANCE. THE PILOT INDICATED THAT THE LONG BEACH MAINTENANCE FACILITY WOULD SUBMIT THE MALFUNCTION AND DEFECT REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
