## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MARCH 24, 2002, AT 1350 EST, A CESSNA CE-172-P, N9847L, OPERATED BY THE CIVIL AIR PATROL, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING A LANDING ON RUNWAY 24 AT THE OCEAN CITY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, OCEAN CITY, NEW JERSEY. THE CERTIFICATED PRIVATE PILOT IN COMMAND AND CO-PILOT WERE NOT INJURED. THE PILOT ADVISED UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE CROSSWIND COMPONENT OF THE WIND APPEARED MORE SEVERE THAN WAS REPORTED FROM THE RUNWAY HEADING. THE AIRCRAFT SWERVED OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO A MARSH AREA, PITCHED ONTO ITS NOSE WITH THE RIGHT WING STRIKING THE GROUND, THE AIRCRAFT THEN FELL BACK ONTO ITS LANDING GEAR WITH THE LEFT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER STRIKING THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
