## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N403WN, B737-7H4M BEING OPERATED BY SOUTHWEST AIRLINES AS FLIGHT 2528 FROM OMAHA, NE., TO CHICAGO, IL., RETURNED TO OMAHA, NE, AFTER DEPARTURE DUE TO REPORTED SMOKE IN THE AIRCRAFT. CREW REPORTED TO CONTRACT MAINTENANCE THAT IMMEDIATELY AFTER RAISING THE LANDING GEAR, A FLIGHT ATTENDANT REPORTED SMOKE IN THE LAST 5 ROWS THAT SMELLED ELECTRICAL. BY THE TIME THE AIRCRAFT HAD RETURNED TO THE GATE THE SMOKE HAD DISSIPATED. CONTRACT MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE CABIN CEILING/SIDEWALL LIGHTNING FOR BURNT BALLAST OR BROKEN BULBS, CIRCUIT BREAKER PANELS, CHECKED OPERATION OF ELECTRICAL FANS, EXTERIOR AIRCRAFT FOR FOD DAMAGE, AND RAN THE ENGINE TO TAKEOFF POWER WITH BOTH PACKS OPERATING. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE SMOKE. AIRCRAFT APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
