## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING THE LANDING ON THE ULTRALIGHT GRASS RUNWAY AT THE SUN N'FUN AIRSHOW, THE NOSE GEAR BROKE OFF AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER ON ITS BACK. DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE NOSE GEAR, THE FIBERGLASS NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT, THE PROPELLER, AND THE RUDDER. ON EXAMINATION OF THE NOSE GEAR, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE NOSE GEAR STRUT WAS PREVIOUSLY CRACKED AS EVIDENCE OF RUST AT THE BRAKE POINT WAS FOUND. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE NOSE WHEEL AXLE BOLTS ON THE RIGHT SIDE WERE MISSING, ALLOWING THE NOSE WHEEL TO SHIFT IN ITS MOUNT CAUSING THE NOSE TIRE TO BIND WHICH SNAPPED OFF THE NOSE GEAR. THE NOSE GEAR STRUT STEERING ASSEMBLY APPEARED VERY SIMILAR TO A BICYCLE FRONT STEERING FORK IN DESIGN AND SIZE.

Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
