AS STUDENT APPLIED COLLECTIVE AT 3100 RPM A VIBRATION OCCURED, THE INSTRUCTOR TOOK CONTROLS LOWERED COLLECTIVE AND REDUCED THROTTLE, VIBRATION WENT AWAY, THE INSTRUCTOR THEN ATTEMPTED TO RAISE THE AIRCRAFT AT 3100 RPM AND THE VIBRATION STARTED AGAIN, HE LOWERED COLLECTIVE AND REDUCED POWER, BUT THE VIBRATION CONTINUED AND GOT MORE VIOLENT, THE ROTOR TORE THE TRANSMISSION FROM ITS MOUNTS, CHOPPED THE TAILBOOM AND BASICALLY BEAT ITS SELF TO DESTRUCTION. PILOT ADMITTED THAT HE DID NOT PREFLIGHT THE DAMPNERS ORTHE STRUT SHOCKS. BELIEVED AIRCRAFT WAS IN GROUND RESONANCE AND PILOT MADE WRONG INPUT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX02LA137](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX02LA137), Apr 14, 2002: Schweizer 269C (N324PH), Scottsdale, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor's inadequate remedial action following the onset of ground resonance.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
