## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT AFTER TAKEOFF HE CLIMBED TO 1500 FEET. THEN THE ENGINE STARTED TO MISS A COUPLE OF TIMES. HE THEN TURNED TOWARD THE AIRPORT, AS HE COMPLETED A 180 DEGREE TURN, THE ENGINE QUIT. HE ATTEMPTED A RESTART, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE COULD NOT MAKE THE AIRFIELD SO HE LANDED IN A FIELD. THE FIELD HAD 3 FEET OF STANDING RYE GRASS WHICH ENTANGLED AROUND THE LANDING GEAR AND CAUSED IT TO FLIP OVER. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE. NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
