## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DALA FLIGHT 1274 DIVERTED TO PITTSBURGH PA. BECAUSE THERE WAS CONFUSION BY (ASI) AIRCRAFT SERVICE INTERNATIONAL, WHO FUELED THE AIRCRAFT IN CVG.AS PART OF THE PROCEDURE FOR INOPERATIVE FUEL INDICATOR, THE FUEL TANK OF THE INOPERATIVE FUEL INDICATOR HAS TO BE DIPPED TO VERIFY THE QUANTITY PRIOR TO FLIGHT. APPARENTLY ASI IN CVG, DIPPED THE WRONG FUEL TANK, CAUSING THE DALA MAINTENENCE TO DIVERT THE FLIGHT TO PITTSBURGH SO THE PROPER FUEL TANK COULD BE DIPPED FOR SAFETY REASONS. NO FURTHER DEFECTS WERE FOUND WITH THIS FUEL SYSTEM, AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE AFTER MAINTENANCE DIPPED THE PROPER FUEL TANK IN PIT. SUBMISSION OF THIS REPORT CLOSES THIS INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
