## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ACCORDING TO BOTH PILOTS, ONE QUART OF OIL WAS ADDED PRIOR TO FLIGHT. AFTER THE PILOT TOOK OFF AND LEVELED OFF AT 2500' FEET HE STATED THAT HE HEARD A NOISE LIKE A RPM FLUCUATION FOLLOWED BY A DROP IN RPM, OIL SPRAYING ON THE RIGHT WINDSHIELD, AND SMOKE IN THE COCKPIT. THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WITH SANFORD TOWER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RETURN TO THE SANFORD AIRPORT. ENROUTE TO SANFORD AIRPORT THE ENGINE LOST ALL OIL PRESSURE AND FAILED. THE PILOT FOUND A FIELD IN WHICH TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING AND MADE A SAFE LANDING IN SAID FIELD. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, AND THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
