## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) BELLANCA, N14745 AND SENECA, N25460 WERE ON A IFR FLIGHT PLAN AND ENCOUNTERED MODERATE TO SEVERE TURBULENCE IN THE VICINITY OF ANTO CHICO, NM. N14745 WAS ASSIGNED AN ALTITUDE OF 11000 FEET AND THE SENECA WAS ASSIGNED 10000 FEET, BOTH ON THE SAME AIRWAY (V62) NORTHWEST BOUND. BOTH AIRCRAFT AUTOPILOT'S HAD DISENGAGED BECAUSE OF THE HEAVY TURBULENCE. BOTH PILOTS WERE HAVING DIFFICULTY HOLDING ALTITUDE. AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL ISSUED THE AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC ADVISORIES AND THEY HAD EACH OTHER IN SIGHT. N17545 HIT A "POTHOLE OF SEVERE TURBULENCE AND LOST 400 FEET OF ALTITUDE CREATING A LOSS OF VERTICAL SEPARATION BETWEEN THE TWO AIRCRAFT. THE HORIZONTAL SEPARATION WAS 1.15 MILES. BOTH PILOTS MADE COMMENTS ABOUT THE SEVERITY OF THE TURBULENCE. MR. FRULLO THE PILOT OF BELLANCA STATED THAT HE GAVE UP TRYING TO HOLD ALTITUDE AND JUST TRIED HOLDING ATTITUDE (WINGS LEVEL).

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
