## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 04-24-02 DELTA AIRLINES FLIGHT 1172 ON LANDING AT SALT LAKE CITY RUNWAY 34L STRUCK A BIRD. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR PLASTIC SLEEVE WHICH COVERS THE SWIVEL FITTING FOR THE NOSE WHEEL STEERING DEACTIVATION VALVE. DELTA MAINTENANCE REMOVED SWIVEL FITTINGS FOR ACCESS, REPLACED PLASTIC SLEEVE, AND REINSTALLED SWIVEL FITTINGS AND CLAMPS. LEAK CHECKED OK. AIRPLANE RETURNED TO SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
