## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) BOTH PILOTS INDICATED THAT UPON LANDING ON RUNWAY 32, AT LOS BANOS AIRPORT, MR. DECKER, WHO WAS FLYING, LANDED HARD AND BOUNCED INTO THE AIR. A GUST OF WIND CAUGHT THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE LEFT AND THEY LANDED ON THE RIGHT MAIN. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO SWERVE TO THE LEFT AND UPON THE LEFT MAIN GEARTOUCHING DOWN THE AIRCRAFT PROPELLER HIT THE VASI LIGHTS ON THE LEFT OF THE RUNWAY. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS MINOR WITH SMALL FABRIC TEAR ON THE RIGHT WING TIP AND A SMALL TEAR OF THE FABRIC UNDER THE AIRCRAFT AND AFT OF THE MAIN GEAR. THE PROPELLER WAS DAMAGED WHEN IT HIT THE VASI LIGHTS. COMPETENCY MAY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED, HOWEVER, IT ALSO APPEARS THAT A GUST OF WIND CAUGHT BOTH PILOTS BY SURPRISE. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE SINCE THE AIRCRAFT HAD SLOWED DOWN TO A VERY SLOW SPEED BY THE TIME THE CHAIN OF EVENTS OCCURRED. THE INSTRUCTOR, MR. KUSHNER, HAS BEEN COUNSELLED REGARDING THIS INCIDENT AND THE TRICKY WIND THAT CAN BE ENCOUNTERED AT THE LOS BANOS AIRPORT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO EITHER PILOT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
