## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT STRUCK FLOCK OF SEAGULLS ON TAKE-OFF AT "V1". PILOT ABORTED TAKEOFF AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT AROUND 100' FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 6L. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH ENGINES, WITH THE #2 ENGINE HAVING UNCONTAINED DAMAGE (BLADE SEPARATION) AT THE 12:00 O'CLOCK POSITION AND A 1 1/2"-2" GAP BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND PYLON. END.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC02LA096](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC02LA096), May 8, 2002: Beech 400 (N400GJ), Cleveland, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: Ingestion of birds into both engines.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
