## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE FLIGHT CREW REPORTED A LIGHTNING STRIKE TO THE AIRCRAFT WHILE CRUISING AT 41,000 FEET NEAR KANSAS CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MCI). THE OUTER LAYER OF THE RIGHT WINDSCREEN SHATTERED AS A RESULT OF THE STRIKE. THE CREW MADE A SUCCESSFUL PRECAUTIONARY LANDING AT MCI. AIRFRAME PRESSURIZATION WAS NOT LOST AFTER THE FAILURE OF THE WINDSCREEN. A REPAIR STATION ACCOMPLISHED A LIGHTNING STRIKE INSPECTION PER THE ASTRA MAINTENANCE MANUAL AND REPLACED THE RIGHT WINDSCREEN. A MALFUNCTION OR DEFECT REPORT WILL BE FILED. THIS INCIDENT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
