(-23) BRADLEY FOSTER WAS PRACTICING A CANOPY RELATIVE WORK (CRW) PARACHUTE JUMP FROM A BE-90-B90, KING AIR, N9838Z, OPERATED BY SKYDIVE SUFFOLK, INC., AT SUFFOLK MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (SF1). THE PARACHUTISTS DID NOT UTILIZE ANY KIND OF AUTOMATIC DEVICE FOR DEPLOYING THE PARACHUTE ON CRW JUMPS. THIS WAS HIS FIFTH JUMP OF THE DAY AND FOSTER WAS THE SECOND PERSON TO EXIT THE AIRCRAFT. UPON EXITING THE AIRCRAFT, HE DID A STAND-UP JUMP AND HIT HIS HEAD ON THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO CAUSE AN INDENTATION IN THE LEADING EDGE. FOSTER LANDED IN A YARD CLOSE TO THE APPROXIMATION OF THE SUFFOLK AIRPORT. FOSTER HAD CONDUCTED OVER 5,000 PARACHUTE JUMPS, WAS A FORMER NAVY SEAL, AND HAD BEEN A SKYDIVER FOR 16 YEARS. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT FOSTER HAD CONDUCTED OVER 40 JUMPS IN THE PAST 30 DAYS. FOSTER WAS AFFILIATED WITH SKYDIVE SUFFOLK, INC. THIS JUMP RESULTED IN A FATAL INJURY TO FOSTER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
