## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 19, 2002, N2351Z, A BEECHCRAFT BE-23-23 AIRCRAFT DEPARTED SHANNON AIRPORT IN FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA AT OR ABOUT 10:00 AM. THE AIRCRAFT FLEW EAST TO KING GEORGE, VIRGINIA. A WITNESS STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT DESCENDED TO APPROXIMATELY 50 TO 100 FEET ABOVE TREE TOP LEVEL AND CIRCLED A HOUSE AT 11510 PLEASANT DR. KING GEORGE, VIRGINIA, 22483. THE AIRCRAFT CIRCLED AROUND THE HOUSE THE SECOND TIME AT LOW POWER, WAGGED ITS WINGS AND LOST ALTITUDE. THE LEFT WING DROPPED JUST PRIOR TO A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPM AND ROTATED TO A NOSE LOW VERTICAL POSITION. THE AIRCRAFT GRAZED A PINE TREE WITH THE LOWER SURFACE OF THE LEFT WING AND IMPACTED THE GROUND ROTATED SLIGHTLY PAST A VERTICAL ANGLE ON A 150 DEGREE HEADING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC02FA098](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC02FA098), May 19, 2002: Beech 23 (N2351Z), King George, VA, substantial damage, 3 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's improper in-flight decision to perform low passes; and his failure to maintain airspeed which resulted in a stall and collision with trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
