## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 21, 2002, AIRCRAFT XA-JBR, A DOUGLAS DC-3, S/N 3261, WAS INVOLVED IN AN INCIDENT APPROXIMATELY THREE MILES EAST OF THE LAREDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DOING TOUCH AND GO'S WHEN THE PILOTS DECLARED AN EMERGENCY, DUE TO A RUNAWAY ENGINE, AND DITCHED THE AIRCRAFT INTO LAKE CASA BLANCA. THE PILOT AND CO-PILOT ARE MEXICAN NATIONALS AND THE THIRD PERSON ONBOARD, IN THE JUMP SEAT, IS AN AMERICAN, A CERTIFICATED PILOT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT IS MINIMAL. THERE WAS NO NEAR MID-AIR, NO POST FIRE AND NO DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. A COPY OF THIS REPORT HAS BEEN GIVEN TO SPM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
