## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN WORKED ON FOR THE ANNUAL CONDITION INSPECTION. ONE OF THE FUEL PUMPS HAD INDICATION OF RUST DEPOSITS. THIS PUMP WAS REMOVED AND CLEANED THEN REINSTALLED. THE FUEL INJECTORS WERE REMOVED, CLEANED AND REINSTALLED. THE ENGINE WAS RUN UP AND FUNCTION CHECKED A FEW TIMES. THE AIRCRAFT HAD 60 GALLONS OF FRESH FUEL ABOARD. THE ENGINE WAS RUN UP FOR TWO MINUTES AND MAGNETO AND PROPELLER OPERATIONAL CHECKS PERFORMED. AFTER TAKEOFF THE PILOT CLIMBED TO ABOUT 200 FEET AND THEN NOTED THE AIRCRAFT SEEMED TO LEVEL OFF, AND A SHORT TIME LATER IT STARTED TO SLOWLY SINK AS THE ENGINE DID NOT SEEM TO BE PRODUCING ENOUGH POWER FOR FLIGHT. THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND IN A FIELD WITH THE LANDING GEAR UP. AS THEY APPROACHED THE FIELD THE RIGHT WING STRUCK A FENCE POST CAUSING MINIMAL DAMAGE. THE AIRCRAFT SLID TO A STOP AND BOTH OCCUPANTS EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES. THE FLIGHT TIME WAS ABOUT TWO MINUTES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DISMANTLED AND MOVED BACK TO THE AIRPORT SHOP FOR FURTHER INSPECTION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
