PILOT REPORTED THAT HE HAD LANDED ON TUSTUMENA LAKE ABOUT 500 YARDS FROM A BEACH, AT THE TIME OF LANDING THE PILOT SAID THE LAKE SURFACE WAS CALM WITH 6 INCH TO 8 INCH WAVES. PILOT WAS STEP TAXIING TO THE BEACH WHEN THE AIRPLANE HIT A LARGE WAVE. AS THE PILOT CONTINUED TO TAXI HE NOTED THAT THE AIRPLANE WAS ACTING AS IF IT WERE SINKING. PILOT APPLIED MORE POWER, AIRPLANE RESPONDED BY SINKING EVEN MORE. PILOT STOPPED THE ENGINE AND EVACUATED THE AIRPLANE. ONCE OUT OF THE AIRPLANE, THE PILOT REALIZED THAT THE AIRPLANE WAS NOT SINKING, BUT RATHER TIPPING OVER. THE IMPACT FROM HITTING THE LARGE WAVE HAD CAUSED SEVERAL FLYING WIRES AND THREE OF THE FLOAT STRUTS TO SEPARATE FROM THE AIRPLANE. A BOAT CAME TO HELP THE PILOT. AIRPLANE WAS TOWED TO THE BEACH.
