## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 6-15-02 THE FLIGHT DEPARTED FROM CARLSBAD CA, TO SALINA, KS. WHILE IN THE DESCENT TO KSLN, THE CREW CLAIMS TO HAVE BEEN IN CLEAR AIR WHEN STRUCK BY HAIL FROM A NEARBY THUNDERSTORM. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE RADOME WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED. THE CAPTAIN'S WINDSHIELD WAS SEVERELY CRACKED AND HAD HOLES THROUGH IT. THE LEADING EDGES OF THE WINGS, VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL STABILIZER RECEIVED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. THE ENGINE INLETS ALSO RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE FROM THE HAIL. THE AIRCRAFT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE THE FLIGHT AND LAND AT SALINA WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
