## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ^PRIVACY DATA ^ DURING CRUISE FLIGHT, APPROXIMATELY 130 MILES SOUTH WEST OF THE DESTINATION AIRPORT, SOUTH BEND, IN., THE NUMBER 1 ENGINE LOST OIL PRESSURE. THE CHECKLIST REQUIRED THE ENGINE TO BE SHUT DOWN. THE CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND CHANGED THE DESTINATION TO PEORIA, IL (PIA). EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT WAS REQUESTED. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED THAT THE STARTER GARLOCK SEAL ON THE #1 ENGINE IS LEAKING. THE SEAL PART NUMBER 3118547-01 WAS REPLACED AND THE ENGINE SERVICED. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
