## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT ON TAKEOFF THE AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE TO TAKEOFF SPEED, SO HE ELECTED TO ABORT THE TAKEOFF. WHEN HE APPLIED BRAKES, THE RIGHT BRAKE HAD NO EFFECT, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO SWERVE AND CONTINUE INTO A GROUND LOOP. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WHEN THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR BROKE OFF, AND THE RIGHT WINGTIP STRUCK THE RUNWAY, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE WING STRUCTURE. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA02LA104](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA02LA104), Jun 17, 2002: Cessna 180K (N66471), Helena, MT, substantial damage. Probable cause: Binding brakes for undetermined reasons and the pilot's failure to maintain directional control during an aborted takeoff.

## Other reports on N66471 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19830115002579I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830115002579I), Jan 15, 1983: Cessna 180K (N66471), Missoula, MT, Minor damage. Airplane wing dropped on landing. Dragged wing on near ground loop. Right main tire was flat, wheel disintegrated.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
