## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AS AIRCRAFT TURNED FINAL TO BATON ROUGE, LA. METROPOLITAN AIRPORT RUNWAY 22L, THE AIRCRAFT LOST ENGINE POWER CAUSING THE OPERATOR TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT LOST ALTITUDE AND IMPACTED SOME SMALL TREES APPROXIMATELY 300 YARDS SHORT OF RUNWAY 22L. IMMEDIATELY AFTER CONTACTING THE TREES, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ON BOTH MAIN LANDING GEAR AND PROCEEDED SOUTHWEST FOR APPROXIMATELY SIX FEET BEFORE THE NOSE LANDING GEAR TOUCHED DOWN IN A DITCH THAT IS PARALLEL TO THE NORTHBOUND LANE OF PLANK RD. THIS CAUSED THE NOSE LANDING GEAR TO TEAR AWAY FROM THE FUSELAGE, AIRCRAFT TO NOSE OVER, AND THE PROPELLER TO CONTACT THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT THEN SKIDDED ACROSS THE NORTH BOUND LANE, ACROSS THE CENTER MEDIAN, ACROSS THE SOUTH BOUND LANE OF PLANK RD. AND CAME TO REST ON THE WEST SHOULDER OF THE SOUTH BOUND LANE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW02LA191](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW02LA191), Jun 27, 2002: Beech BE-V35B (N1SU), Baton Rouge, LA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the loss of engine power for undetermined reasons. A contributing factor was the lack of suitable terrain for the forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
