(-23) DURING CRUISE FLIGHT THE FIRST OFFICER SAW FIRE/FLAMES COMING FROM THE RIGHT ENGINE. THE PILOT SECURED THE ENGINE AND THE FIRE BOTTLES WERE ACTIVATED. AFTER AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING AT GEG, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TURBINE SECTION FO THE PT6A-36 ENGINE HAD COME APART IN FLIGHT, AND THE FIRE/FLAMES THE FIRST OFFICER SAW WERE COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST STACKS. THE ENGINE CASE CONTAINED THE EVENT AND THE ONLY AIRCRAFT DAMAGE NOTED WAS SOME MINOR SCRATCHES IN THE PAINT ON THE WING LEADING EDGES ON EACH SIDE OF THE NACELLE. (OTHER): I SPOKE TO THE DOM AT SPOKANE AIRWAYS, GEG WHO CHANGED THE ENGINE FOR ALPINE, AND HE INDICATED THAT THE POWER SECTION OF THIS ENGINE HAD LESS THAN 250 HOURS SINCE OVERHAUL, AND THEY WANTED THE ENGINE TAGGED SO IT COULD GO BACK TO THE OVERHAULER IN BOSTON AND A DISASSEMBLY INSPECTION COMPLETED IN FAA'S PRESENCE. THE ENGINE WAS TAGGED AND SENT FOR TEARDOWN.
