## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING AN INSTRUCTIONAL PERIOD THE STUDENT, A PRIVATE PILOT, RAISED THE LANDING GEAR DURING THE LANDING PHASE. THIS WAS DUE TO EXCESSIVE LOSS OF ALTITUDE DURING A SIMULATED ENGINE OUT LANDING. BOTH THE PILOT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AND THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THAT THE GEAR WAS NEVER REEXTENDED. THE AIRCRAFT, A PIPER SENECA, N1380T, LANDED ON RUNWAY ONE (1). THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THIS WAS NOT A MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION AND THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR HAS CONFIRMED THIS. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ THIS MATTER IS CLOSED. FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR OBTAINED HIS MEI AND ATP WITHIN THE LAST 3 YRS. THIS IS REASON WHY A YES WAS CHECKED IN NUMBER 29.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
