## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) HELICOPTER WAS CLEARED TO AIR TAXI TO THE COMPASS ROSE BY THE TOWER. THIS ROUTE OF FLIGHT REQUIRED THE HELICOPTER TO FLY BEHIND THE SIGNATURE BUILDING ON THE AIRPORT. DUE TO GUSTY WIND CONDITIONS AND CHANGING WIND DIRECTIONS, THE FLIGHT PATH BEHIND THE SIGNATURE BUILDING ENCOUNTERED THE DOWNWIND TURBULENCE AND THE PILOT COULD NOT CONTROL THE HOVER TAXI AND SETTLED WITH POWER UNTIL THE HELICOPTER LANDED ON THE SKIDS. THE HELICOPTER ROLLED OVER ON IT'S LEFT SIDE WHICH RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE HELICOPTER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN02FA070](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN02FA070), Jul 9, 2002: Boone Rotorway 162-F (N30319), Englewood, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot encountering settling with power. A factor contributing to the accident was the tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
