## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE LANDING ON SHORT, PRIVATE GRASS RUNWAY WITH EAST/WEST ORIENTATION, PILOT NOTED A HIGH SINK RATE "ABOUT 20 FEET" ABOVE THE RUNWAY. HE ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE SINK RATE WITH FULL POWER, BUT CORRECTION WAS TOO LATE, AIRPLANE "HIT HARD" COLLAPSING RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR. AIRPLANE SLID 104 FEET FROM POINT OF FIRST TOUCH DOWN, COMING TO REST IN A LARGE PILE OF ANIMAL MANURE WHICH LAY ALONGSIDE THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. PILOT AND 2 PASSENGERS ESCAPED UNINJURED. CRASH OCCURRED AT ABOUT 2040 LOCAL (CDT), SUNSET WAS AT 2053 LOCAL CDT. LANDING WAS TO EAST. WEST END OF RUNWAY HAS HIGH TREES AND A HOUSE. RUNWAY WOULD HAVE BEEN HEAVILY SHADOWED BY TREES AND STRUCTURE WITH SETTING SUN VERY LOW ON HORIZON. LOW TIME PILOT WITH A NEGATIVE ATTITUDE TOWARDS REGULATORY OVERSIGHT AND PROCEDURES. PASSENGER/WITNESS STATED THAT PILOT HAD EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT DUE TO THE SHORT RUNWAY, A SPECIAL TECHNIQUE OF "STALLING IT IN" WAS REQUIRED. PASSENGER ALSO STATED THAT THE PLANNED TAKEOFF WAS DELAYED BY PILOT HAVING TO CHECK RUNWAY FOR, AND FILL IN, SEVERAL HOLES. WITNESS STATEMENTS (PASSENGERS) AND ON-SCENE EVIDENCE INDICATED STALL PROBABLY OCCURRED AT 80 TO 100 FEET ABOVE RUNWAY.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
