## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON THE THIRD LANDING ATTEMPT OF A SERIES OF PRACTICE TAKEOFF AND LANDINGS AT PORT CLINTON AIRPORT (PCW), THE PILOT REPORTED EXPERIENCING AN UPDRAFT ON THE LEFT WING WHILE PASSING OVER THE END OF RUNWAY 36. THE PILOT SAID SHE CORRECTED THE AIRCRAFT ATTITUDE TO LEVEL THE WINGS. THE PILOT THEN SAID SHE HEARD THE STALL HORN, SAW THE WARNING ANNUNCIATOR AND HAD A HARD LANDING ON RUNWAY 36. BOTH WINGS BUCKLED AND BENT APPROXIMATELY 5 FEET FROM EACH WING TIP. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT BOTH TIP TANKS WERE FULL OF FUEL AT THE TIME.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB IAD02LA078](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/IAD02LA078), Jul 20, 2002: Piper PA 24-250 (N5227P), Port Clinton, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare, and his failure to maintain adequate airspeed which resulted in an inadvertent stall.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
