## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED CHAMBERS COUNTY (T00) TO CONDUCT AERIAL APPLICATION AROUND THE FIELDS AT SMITH POINT (APPROXIMATELY 14 MILES SOUTH OF ANAHUAC). THE PILOT REPORTS THAT APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES AFTER DEPARTURE THE ENGINE SUDDENLY QUIT. THE AIRPLANE WAS AT 200' AGL AND THE PILOT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN AN OPEN FIELD. THE PILOT REPORTS THAT THE ENGINE HAD BEEN RUNNING ROUGH THE DAY BEFORE. THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED AND THE AIRCRAFT MAGNETO CHECKS TESTED OK. THE ONSCENE INVESTIGATION REVEALED AMPLE FUEL, AND NO VISUAL CAUSE FOR THE ENGINE FAILURE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
