## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT REQUESTED A FLYBY TO CONFIRM THE NOSE GEAR POSITION, SINCE HE HAD AN UNSAFE INDICATION. MQY TOWER SAID IT APPEARED THAT THE GEAR WAS DOWN, BUT HE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED ON LANDING, RESULTING IN MINOR DAMAGE. NOSE GEAR ACTUATOR SPRING GUIDE BROKE AND RESTRICTED THE NOSE GEAR FROM LOCKING DOWN. A CESSNA SERVICE LETTER OF 01/13/84 RECOMMENDED THAT THIS PLASTIC ACTUATOR BE REPLACED WITH A STEEL CONTRUCTION (SE84-3). THIS WAS NOT ACCOMPLISHED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
