## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING LANDING ROLL, AIRCRAFT RAN OFF THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 32, THEN NOSED DOWN AN EMBANKMENT ONTO AN ACCESS ROAD FOR THE GOLF COURSE AND RUNWAY AND TIPPED UPSIDE DOWN. THE PILOT FLEW FROM MONROE COUNTY AIRPORT (MNV), MADISONVILLE, TN, STOPPED FOR FUEL AT GATLINBURG-PIGEON FORGE AIRPORT (GKT), SEVIERVILLE, TN, AND CONTINUED TO 2NC0. THE FLIGHTS WERE CONDUCTED UNDER VFR, AND THE PILOT DID NOT FILE A FLIGHT PLAN. THE PILOT HAD FLOWN TWO APPROACHES BEFORE THE ACCIDENT LANDING AND TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY 1000 FEET FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY. SKIDMARKS INDICATE INTERMITTENT BRAKING UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY, AT WHICH POINT THE SKID MARKS BECAME CONTINUOUS TO THE END OF THE RUNWAY. MARKS IN THE GRASS INDICATE THAT THE BRAKES WERE LOCKED UNTIL THE AIRCRAFT TIPPED OVER THE EMBANKMENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL02LA148](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL02LA148), Aug 1, 2002: Cessna 182H (N2008X), Burnsville, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot misjudged distance and speed, and did not attain the proper touchdown point during landing, resulting in an overrun of the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
