## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT TOOK OFF WITH A 10 TO 15 KNOT TAIL WIND. HE FELT THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT PRODUCING POWER SO JUST AFTER BECOMING AIRBORNE HE ABORTED THE TAKEOFF AND RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY INTO A MARSHY BOG. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON ITS TOP. THE PILOT THINKS THAT HE MAY HAVE HAD THE PROPELLER CONTROL IN A POSITION OTHER THEN FULL INCREASE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA02LA144](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA02LA144), Aug 4, 2002: Cessna 182P (N58818), Cascade, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate decision and his improper setting of the propeller controls. Contributing factors were a tailwind, high density altitude, and swampy terrain.

## Other reports on N58818 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19801114072139A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19801114072139A), Nov 14, 1980: Cessna 182P (N58818), Blackfoot, ID, Substantial damage. Engine quit approaching destination. Landed in field. Nosed over. Found water in fuel.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
