(-23) DURING THE NIGHT OF AUGUST 17, 2002 MR. C.J. BECK, HOLDER OF COMMERCIAL PILOT CERTIFICATE NO. 439922923, WAS PIC OF N336CB, A BE-36 BEECHCRAFT BONANZA DURING A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT FROM LAWRENCE, KS (KLWC) TO JABARA AIRPORT, WICHITA, KS (KAAO). WHILE IN DESCENT FLIGHT FROM 8,000 FEET MSL TO A LOWER ALTITUDE ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN CONDUCTED UNDER CFR14 PART 91, THE AIRCRAFT LOST ALL ENGINE POWER. THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS SWITCHED TO THE RIGHT TANK, AND SUBSEQUENT ATTEMPTS TO START THE ENGINE AFTER ONE SHORT RESTART, AGAIN ENDED IN FAILURE. AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT BUT NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR PASSENGERS.
