## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON AUGUST 18 AT APPROXIMATELY 1045 CDT THE PROPERLY RATED PRIVATE PILOT WAS DEPARTING MT. HAWELY AIRPORT ON A PERSONAL PLEASURE FLIGHT. AT ABOUT 200 FEET IN THE AIR THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND QUIT. THE PIC MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A SMALL FIELD OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY 17. THE PILOT AND SOLE OCCUPANT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE WHEN THE MAIN LANDING GEAR WAS BROKE OFF DUE TO THE HARD LANDING. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
