## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON AUGUST 19, 2002, MR. STEPHEN CARTER OPERATED PILATUS PC-12-45, N78PG, AS PILOT IN COMMAND AT THE JOHNSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE AIRPORT (OJC), OLATHE, KANSAS. WHILE ON THE TAKEOFF ROLL ON RUNWAY 18, A FLOCK OF BIRDS CROSSED THE RUNWAY IN FRONT OF THE AIRCRAFT. MR. CARTER ABORTED THE TAKEOFF JUST PRIOR TO REACHING ROTATIONAL SPEED, BUT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT ON THE REMAINING AVAILABLE RUNWAY AND CONTINUED OFF THE END OF RUNWAY 18. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND NO DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. OUR INVESTIGATION CONCLUDED THAT A WET RUNWAY AND A DOWNHILL SLOPE CONTRIBUTED TO THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTING THE RUNWAY. A POST-INCIDENT INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT BRAKE SYSTEM INDICATED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF AIR IN THE BRAKE LINES ACCORDING TO THE PILOT. INCIDENT REPORT ^PRIVACY DATA OMIT^ IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
