## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE NON-CERTIFICATED PILOT STATED THAT HE MADE A VERY LOW APPROACH TO THE RUNWAY BECAUSE OF THE FLOATING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TAYLORCRAFT WHILE FLARING ON A SHORT RUNWAY. THE PILOT MISJUDGED HIS ALTITUDE ALLOWING THE TAILWHEEL TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE SOFT MUD ON THE MARSH LOCATED SHORT OF THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD. THE DRAG CAUSED BY THE TAILWHEEL IN THE MUD CAUSED THE MAIN WHEELS TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE MUD. AT A VERY LOW AIRSPEED, THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER AND CAME TO REST ON ITS BACK. THE ONLY DAMAGE NOTED WAS A SLIGHT OILCANNING OF THE UNDERSIDE OF THE COWLING. THE PILOT WAS UNHURT. MR. DUNN ADMITTED THAT HE FLEW THE AIRCRAFT TOO LOW AND SLOW AND THAT HE HAS NEVER HAD A PILOT CERTIFICATE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
