## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT AND TWO PASSENGERS WERE PREPARING FOR DEPARTURE FROM RUNWAY 15 AT INDIANAPOLIS METROPOLITAN AIRPORT. BEFORE TAKEOFF ONE PASSENGER ELECTED TO STAY ON THE GROUND DUE TO POSSIBLE ILLNESS. THE PILOT RETURNED TO THE RAMP TO DROP OFF THE PASSENGER. WHILE MANEUVERING THE AIRCRAFT TO A TAXI SPOT MARKED BY A PAINTED "T" THE LEFT WING CAME IN CONTACT WITH A LAMP POLE APPROXIMATELY 18" INSIDE THE WINGTIP. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI02LA264](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI02LA264), Aug 28, 2002: Cessna 182S (N4183N), Fishers, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot failed to maintain clearance with the light pole while taxiing. A factor was the light pole.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
