## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON THE TAKE-OFF RUN ON THE UGASHIK RIVER WITH A RIGHT CROSS WIND OF ABOUT 15 KNOTS. WITH THE AIRCRAFT ON STEP WITH AN AIRSPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 50 KNOTS THE AIRCRAFT WOULD NOT RESPOND TO A RIGHT HAND TURN TO STAY IN THE RIVER CHANNEL. WITH THE RIVER BANK APPROACHING AND IT BEING A CUT BANK THE PILOT INITIATED A CLIMB ATTITUDE AND LOWERED THE FLAPS, THE AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE AND HOPPED UP ON THE BANK LANDING IN THE WILLOWS AND COLLIDED WITH SEVERAL TREES. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED DAMAGE TO THE FLOAT ASSEMBLIES, RIGHT WING, STABILIZER, AND PROPELLER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES RECEIVED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC02LA114](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC02LA114), Sep 4, 2002: Cessna 185 (N9563H), Pilot Point, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for P-factor, and his failure to abort the takeoff which resulted in a collision with trees during the takeoff initial climb.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
