## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ALTHOUGH THE PILOT CLAIMS TO HAVE LANDED JUST PAST NUMBERS AND PULLED POWER BACK HE CLAIMED HE COULDN'T SLOW DOWN WITH BRAKES. PHYSICAL EVIDENCE AT THE SCENE CONTRADICTS THIS. THE RUNWAY IS 2400 FT, SKID MARKS OF APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET (157 PACES) TO THE END OF RUNWAY, TRAVELING THROUGH APPROXIMATELY 30 YARDS OF HEAVY GRASS, DOWN A DITCH AND OUT OF THE DITCH AND ACROSS AN ACCESS RAMP. THIS WITH THE FACT THAT THE PROP DAMAGE INDICATES THE ENGINE WAS OPERATING AT POWER. A LONG LANDING, A FAST LANDING OR FAILURE TO PULL POWER IS INDICATED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI02LA280](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI02LA280), Sep 16, 2002: Cessna 172P (N54091), Sturtevant, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The proper touchdown point not attained and the approach speed not obtained/maintained by the pilot.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
