## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT LOWERED LANDING GEAR USING POWER SYSTEM, BUT RECEIVED AN UNSAFE GEAR INDICATOR LIGHT. MADE PASS OVER RUNWAY FOR TOWER PERSONNEL TO EXAMINE GEAR POSITION AND WAS TOLD GEAR LOOKED DOWN AND OKAY. CONTACTED MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND MADE PASS OVER RUNWAY AND THEY AGREED GEAR APPEARED DOWN AND SAFE. PILOT ATTEMPTED ADDITIONAL GEAR EXTENSION CYCLES, BOTH ELECTRICALLY AND MANUALLY, BUT STILL RECEIVED UNSAFE LIGHT. BASED ON GROUND WITNESSES, PILOT ELECTED TO ATTEMPT NORMAL LANDING THINKING HE WAS GETTING POSSIBLE FALSE INDICATION. UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT'S RIGHT MLG FOLDED FIRST, FOLLOWED BY THE NOSE AND LEFT MLG. THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT SIDE. PILOT AND PASSENGER EXITED AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT. THERE WAS NO POST CRASH FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN03LA007](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN03LA007), Oct 14, 2002: Mooney M20J (N8084D), Englewood, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: the complete collapse of the landing gear, during landing roll, for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
