## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING A NORMAL TAKEOFF FROM A SOD RUNWAY, THE PILOT NOTICED AN UNCOMMON SOUND FROM THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR AS THOUGH THERE WAS SOME ROUGHNESS ON THE SURFACE OF THE RUNWAY. AFTER RETRACTING THE GEAR AND LEVELING OFF POWER WAS ADJUSTED FOR CRUISE SPEED. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT ACCELERATE TO THE NORMAL SPEED FOR THAT POWER SETTING. RADIO CONTACT WAS MADE WITH THE AIRCRAFT THAT THE PILOT WAS FOLLOWING TO ANOTHER AIRPORT AND ADVISED THE PIC OF THE SECOND AIRCRAFT THAT THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE INCIDENT AIRCRAFT. THE PIC OF THE SECOND AIRCRAFT SLOWED SO THE INCIDENT AIRCRAFT COULD CATCH UP WITH HIM. A VISUAL INSPECTION INDICATED THE LEFT MAIN WHEEL WAS PROTRUDING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WING AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE FROM THE WING. AFTER SOME DISCUSSION BETWEEN THE AIRCRAFT IT WAS DECIDED TO ACCOMPLISH A GEAR UP LANDING AT PORT COLUMBUS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (CMH). THE DECISION TO US CMH WAS BASED ON THE AVAILABLE CRASH RESCUE EQUIPMENT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS LANDED GEAR UP WITH MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT, ALL CONSIDERING. AN INSPECTION OF THE LEFT MAIN GEAR REVEALED THAT THE UPPER BOLT TO THE SCISSORS LEVER HAD SHEARED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
