## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 10/24/2002, N994PG, A RETRACTABLE LANDING GEAR AMATEUR BUILT, OSPREY GP4 AIRCRAFT WAS ENROUTE FROM BROCKPORT, NY (7G0) TO CHARLOTTE, NC (CLT). AT APPROXIMATELY 200 KNOTS CRUISE, THE MECHANICAL LANDING GEAR ACTUATING BAR WAS INADVERTENTLY RELEASED, THE LANDING GEAR TO EXTENDED VERY QUICKLY, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE MAIN ACTUATING MECHANISM. THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED AT THE ROANOKE REGIONAL AIRPORT (ROA). DURING THE LANDING ROLLOUT BOTH MAIN LANDING GEARS COLLAPSED, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND UPON EXITING THE RUNWAY, THE NOSE GEAR DUG IN AND COLLAPSED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR PASSENGER. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED MINOR DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
