## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS ATTEMPTING TO FLY FROM A HIGH DEGREE OF SLOPE (RIGHT SKID LOW). DYNAMIC ROLLOVER OCCURRED. ADDITIONAL STRONG WINDS WERE EXPERIENCED FROM LEFT FRONT OF AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX03LA017](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX03LA017), Oct 29, 2002: Hughes 369D (N220AL), Kaaawa, Oahu, HI, destroyed. Probable cause: Dynamic rollover during an attempted takeoff, due to the combined effects of the soft sloping terrain and the pilot's failure to redistribute the passengers to a more favorable lateral CG condition.

## Other reports on N220AL (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19921116046859A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19921116046859A), Nov 16, 1992: Hughes 369D (N220AL), Carlsbad, CA, Substantial damage. Smoke in cockpit, loud bang, engine quit. Autorotated. Chopped tail landing. Overrunning clutch bearing failed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
