## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE HAND PROPPING THE AERONCA/7AC, S/N 7AC-2329 FOR A FLIGHT. MR. SHEMA STATED "THE AIRCRAFT STARTED AND JUMP THE CHALK HE HAD UNDER THE RIGHT TIRE." THE CIRCULAR TIRE MARKS LEFT IN THE GRASS INDICATE THE AIRCRAFT MADE NUMEROUS LEFT HAND CIRCLES IN THE TAXI WAY/RUNWAY. FINALLY THE AIRCRAFT PROCEEDED ACROSS THE RUNWAY SHEARING OFF A SHED SUPPORT POLE WITH ITS RIGHT WING TIP. THE RIGHT WING STRUCK A POLE OF THE HANGER, SPINNING THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT INTO N22122. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH AIRCRAFT. MR. SHEMA RECEIVED TWENTY-SEVEN STITCHES ABOVE THE RIGHT EYE WHERE THE RIGHT STRUT STRUCK HIM. HE ALSO RECEIVED BRUISED RIBS, RIGHT ELBOW, AND RIGHT ANKLE. HIS AIRCRAFT, ENGINE AND PILOT LOGBOOKS WERE REVIEWED WITH NO DISCREPANCIES NOTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL03LA013](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL03LA013), Oct 31, 2002: Aeronca 7AC (N83651), Warner Robins, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to follow engine start procedures for a overprimed engine, and his improper use of the throttle control during an attempted start.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
