## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AT ABOUT 12:05 CST, AT OKMULGEE AIRPORT, THE PILOT OF TAYLORCRAFT, N96262, WAS STRUCK IN THE HEAD BY HIS RUNAWAY AIRCRAFT. HE WAS TRANSPORTED FROM OKMULGEE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT TO ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL, TULSA, OK. WITNESSES SAID THE PILOT CHASED THE AIRCRAFT AND WAS STRUCK BY SOME PART OF THE AIRCRAFT'S TAIL SECTION. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED. IN A TELEPHONE INTERVIEW WITH THE PILOT 11/07/2002, HE SAID HE WAS ENROUTE FROM BARTLESVILLE, OK TO VICTORIA TEXAS. HE WAS STOPPING AT OKMULGEE TO REFUEL. UPON LANDING HE PUT THE THROTTLE IN THE IDLE POSITION AND THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. HE SAID HE PROPPED THE ENGINE, IT STARTED AND GOT AWAY FROM HIM. (-23 AMENDMENT) THIS HAD BEEN DOWNGRADED TO AN INCIDENT PER NTSB.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
