## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE FAA OFFICE RECEIVED A REPORT CONCERNING A FOKKER F-27 AIRCRAFT OPERATING UNDER SCENIC AIRLINE, INC., WHICH REPORTED A FIRE INDICATION ON THE NUMBER 2 ENGINE. THE FLIGHT CREW DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND SECURED THE NUMBER 2 IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FLIGHT MANUAL AND QUICK REFERENCE HANDBOOK (QRH) AND THEN LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT AT MERCED MUNI/MACREADY FIELD (MCE). THE CREW ELECTED NOT TO DISCHARGE THE FIRE AGENTS INTO THE ENGINE WHICH WERE DUE TO VARIOUS REASONS; THESE WERE BEING INSIDE THE FINAL APPROACH FIX WITH POOR VISIBILITY, THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE HEAVY PRECIPITATION WHICH THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED. UPON LANDING, THE CREW STOPPED THE AIRCRAFT ON THE RUNWAY AND WITH THE "WARNING HORN" AND "ENGINE'S FIRE INDICATION LIGHT" STILL CONTINUING TO OPERATE. THE CREW FIRED THE FIST FIRE BOTTLE AND STARTED TIMING PROCEDURES. WHEN BOTH FIRE WARNING SIGNALS FAILED TO EXTINGUISH, THE SECOND BOTTLE WAS DISCHARGED AND THEN BOTH WARNING INDICATIONS WERE EXTINGUISHED. THE CREW THEN EVACUATED THE PASSENGERS ONTO THE RUNWAY FROM THE LEFT MAIN CABIN DOOR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED DURING THIS EGRESS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
